Augmented Reality for Industry 4.0 – What is it and how does it help your manufacturing process?

Augmented Reality for Industry 4.0 – What is it and how does it help your manufacturing process?

This introductory workshop is part of the NERDIC Industry 4.0 Readiness Ecosystem program for small manufacturing enterprises in the defense supply chain. For more information, please visit ccat.us/NERDIC.

Augmented Reality is the overlaying of digital content into the physical environment. Specifically, to manufacturing, this can include any type of virtual parts, data, photos, videos, and work instructions. These assets can be transposed onto a machine in the real world for easier training and troubleshooting through a device such as a phone or headset. Our engagement is specific to HoloLens 2 which is an advanced augmented reality headset created by Microsoft. HoloLens 2 has comprehensive voice recognition, gesture recognition and is a hands-free heads-up display.

Learning Objectives:

Learn how augmented reality can:
• Expedite training and onboarding
• Standardize work and procedures for employees
• Improve remote troubleshooting
• Reduce travel to physical locations with virtual tools

Participants will be invited to apply to participate in a pilot demonstration project utilizing this technology. A Technology Demonstration follows this workshop and is scheduled for Tuesday, July 27, 2021 from 12 N – 1:00 pm.

Presenters – SphereGen Technologies, The Impact Group
