Rochester, NH – The aerospace activities of Safran Aerospace Composites in Rochester, New Hampshire, were spotlighted during the 7th annual New Hampshire Manufacturing Month. In a virtual presentation on October 2, Human Resources Manager Sean Hoeing provided an overview of the company’s activities and career opportunities. At Rochester, Safran Aerospace Composites partners with Albany International to produce jet engine components.
This annual month-long celebration of manufacturing is organized by New Hampshire Manufacturing Extension Partnership (NHMEP) in collaboration with the New Hampshire Department of Business and Economic Affairs, the Business and Industry Association, the Council, the New Hampshire Department of Education, and many other partners.
While New Hampshire Manufacturing Month has typically featured plant tours, it shifted to a virtual format this year because of the COVID-19 pandemic. To celebrate this key event, local manufacturers were invited to give presentations highlighting their industry, products, and the career opportunities available to the future generation.
Ten high schools and approximately 150 students signed up for the Safran Aerospace presentation on October 2, which received positive feedback from participants.
Safran’s Rochester operation produces 3D woven composite parts using RTM (resin transfer molding) technology in manufacturing blades and fan cases for CFM International LEAP jet engines, which power the latest generation of single-aisle commercial jetliners. The company also manufactures fan cases for the GE9X engine, which was recently certified by the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and will power the Boeing 777X. Safran Aerospace Composites has received high-level recognition in New Hampshire for its talent partnerships with schools and economic development organizations that bring highly-specialized production skills to its state-of-the-art facility.
